Branan Medical Corportaion has been awarded a multiphase development contract to develop a system of test strips for monitoring antimicrobial concentrations in the cooling systems of the International Space Station.

The development contract seeks a simple and easy-to-use-system for monitoring the concentration of selected antimicrobials to ensure control of microbial growth and prevent fouling and corrosion on the ISS cooling system.  

Scientists at The Boeing Company and Hamilton Sundstrand, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp, evaluated the performance of relevant suppliers on factors of accuracy and stability prior to awarding the contract to Branan Medical Corporation.    

The space station is supported by the scientific and technological resources of 16 nations including the United States, Canada, Japan, Russia, Brazil, and the 11 nations of the European Space Agency.
