COLA, announces it has appointed Catherine Bernstein as Government Relations and External Affairs Manager.

In her new role, Bernstein is responsible for COLA‘s relations with the federal and state governments as well as the laboratory professional community. She also represents COLA and COLA-accredited facilities in CLIA and state specific regulatory matters.

Prior to joining COLA, Bernstein was a Research Associate with the Physicians Insurers Association of America, Rockville, Md, where she interfaced with physicians, regulatory bodies and other groups regarding medical malpractice claims. She previously held research and legislative positions with the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Washington, DC and American Chiropractic Association, Arlington, Va. 

"Catherine brings considerable insight and knowledge of the government relations, public policy and external affairs process to her role at COLA," said COLA Chief Executive Officer Douglas Beigel. "We look forward to the contributions she will make to this critically important area of our organization." 

Bernstein holds a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree in International Studies and Political Science from Towson University in Towson, Md. She is a resident of Bel Air, Md.
