An interview with Craig Stout, Vice President and General Manager

Q: Which products is QBC/Drucker featuring, and why?

Stout: We are featuring ParaLens in order to introduce it in all distributor channels, both domestically and internationally. We now have an extensive list of diseases and parasites, including malaria, that the ParaLens can detect both domestically and internationally. Indeed, the malaria test is far superior to all rapid malaria tests and can produce the most accurate results in as little as 15 minutes. It also has several other uses in the educational, veterinary, and clinical laboratories.

For Drucker, we are featuring the 642E, 755VES, and 853VES centrifuges. Each one contains our patented horizontal rotor and is built to last with a steel frame and lifetime rotor warranty.

The Horizon Model 853VES centrifuge is a medium-capacity centrifuge that offers control over almost every aspect of the unit’s operation.

Q: Tell us about the products you’re featuring. What are the competitive advantages, and/or how do they represent advances over previous versions?

Stout: The ParaLens is a low-cost fluorescent microscope adapter that fits most compound light microscopes. The adapter allows for portable epifluorescence capabilities with diagnostic reliability, sensitivity, and stability in one economic package. It helps detect several diseases and is a great solution for tuberculosis and malaria detection.

The QBC STAR Centrifugal Hematology system is the simplest solution for in-office CBC testing. Offering an innovative approach to CBC testing, it employs advanced dry hematology technology instead of alternate methods that employ bulky liquid reagents. It has a 2-minute start-up, is low maintenance and eliminates the liquid hazardous wastes created by liquid reagents, and runs a full CBC in minutes.

Drucker’s Horizon Model 642E is a cost-effective horizontal centrifuge with an easy-to-use digital time control for precise spin time every time. The “one button” operation assures consistent and repeatable runs for perfect separation.

The Horizon 755VES features the largest holding capacity of Drucker’s Performance Series centrifuges. Its standard horizontal rotor and carriers can accommodate up to 24 test tubes. The 755VES offers control over almost every aspect of the unit’s operation from variable acceleration and deceleration to easy time and speed input. Save your settings in one of 10 memory locations and recall them at the touch of a button.

The Horizon Model 853VES centrifuge is a medium-capacity centrifuge with unmatched performance. It offers control over almost every aspect of the unit’s operation from variable acceleration and deceleration to easy time and speed input. High speed and force capability produce platelet-poor/free plasma and greatly reduces processing times. The exclusive Drucker horizontal rotor allows for quick and easy sample loading and complete horizontal separation.
