Presented in a case study format, participants are led through “investigations” of some of the more common blood specimen collection challenges phlebotomists face. Tips to successfully meet the challenges of each case study are examined. Discussions include difficult draws, unconventional settings, patient responses, communication barriers, and “solving the crime” of improper specimen collection, handling and transport.
