CAP13More than 1,000 pathologists will soon convene for the annual meeting of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), whose scientific and educational program will showcase experts presenting research findings in the areas of anatomic and clinical pathology.

CAP’13 will be held from October 13 to 16, at the Gaylord Palms, Orlando, Fla.

The special focus for this year’s meeting is endocrine pathology, such as diabetes, thyroid disease, and growth disorders.

Highlights include:

  • The Metabolic Syndrome: the facts about this obesity-related disease and the pathologist’s role in patient management
  • Advances in tumor genomic profiling for lung, colon, skin, and thyroid cancers
  • New evidence-based recommendations for HER2 testing in breast cancer
  • More than 630 abstract and case study submissions, representing the largest number of posters ever presented at a CAP annual meeting
