In June, acetyl fentanyl, a synthetic opioid 40 times more potent than heroin, caused 14 overdose deaths in Rhode Island. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention subsequently issued a health alert against the drug, advising toxicology laboratories to test for its presence by GC/MS for any overdose patients whose ELISA screens showed positive for fentanyl.
Now Cerilliant has introduced a certified reference material of acetyl fentanyl in methanol at a concentration of 1.0 mg/mL. It can be used as a Snap-N-Spike starting material to prepare calibrators and controls in fentanyl testing methods and for other forensic, clinical toxicology, or prescription monitoring applications by GC/MS or LC/MS. A 13C6–labeled internal standard at a concentration of 100 ?g/mL in methanol is also available through Cerilliant to quantify acetyl fentanyl levels using MS methods.
