The DDP HIV 1/2 Assay from Chembio Diagnostic Systems, Medford, NY, is a single-use, immunochromatographic test that enables rapid detection of antibodies to human immunodeficiency virus types 1 and 2 (HIV 1/2) in oral fluid and all blood matrices, including fingerstick whole blood, venous whole blood, serum, or plasma samples. The assay is intended for use as a point-of-care test and is suitable for use in multi-test algorithms that have been established in many countries or as a stand-alone initial test. This kit features Chembio’s new SampleTainer, which contains a premeasured, single-use dilution buffer within a closed vial that also serves as a dropper for performing the assay. Each test is supplied with a blood-collection loop, oral swab, SampleTainer, and test device.

The in vitro immunochromatographic assay provides qualitative detection of influenza A and B nucleoprotein antigens in nasopharyngeal swab, nasal swab samples, and nasal wash/aspirate specimens. With results available within 15 minutes, the lateral-flow test requires minimal hands-on time and provides clearly readable results. The BinaxNow demonstrates sensitivity of 70% to 89% for flu A and 50% to 69% for flu B, and specificity of 90% to 99% for flu A and 94% to 100% for flu B. Each kit contains internal controls and has a shelf life of 24 months from date of manufacture.

The Reveal G3 is comprised of a single-use test cartridge containing an immunoreactive test membrane, which includes a combination of synthetic peptides corresponding to conserved regions of HIV structural proteins coated onto a membrane matrix.
