NovoPath has announced the addition of an interface to Athenahealth for its NovoPath Anatomic Pathology Laboratory Information System (APLIS). A provider of cloud-based services and mobile tools for health systems, Athenahealth provides back-office support to streamline providers’ most difficult tasks.

Athenahealth is the latest company to join NovoPath’s list of supported electronic medical records. By providing a standardized interface, NovoPath and Athenahealth can reduce the time and cost it takes for laboratories to connect with clients.

“We are excited to partner with NovoPath in an effort to simplify integration into our national healthcare backbone,” says Doran Robinson, vice president of healthcare transactions for Athenahealth. “Through mutual collaboration, we have helped reduce the cost and time associated with bringing NovoPath results to Athenahealth providers, which means better data is available to them in the moments of care.”

NovoPath’s APLIS modular structure enables it to be customized to a site’s specific workflows and offers support of a wide range of complementary technologies. Laboratories can select only the functionalities they need, upgrading their system later as their practice evolves and stretching their budgets in an economically competitive environment.

“In today’s challenging healthcare environment, NovoPath is committed to helping anatomic pathology labs leverage today’s most advanced technologies required to increase operational efficiencies and enhance patient safety,” says Rick Callahan, vice president of sales and marketing for NovoPath. “To that end, we keep our finger on the pulse of the industry and believe that NovoPath will help move labs towards attainment of these goals.”
