Antek HealthWare, LLC, developer of LabDAQ® Laboratory Information System (LIS), announced the release of LabDAQ MiddleWare designed to provide patient test result information from waived lab instruments to the electronic medical records.

With the advent of the implementation of the electronic medical/health records (EMR/EHR), there is a need to populate patients’ records with laboratory results in order to fully utilize the features and functionality provided by EMR software systems.  LabDAQ MiddleWare meets this need through an ASTM interface to the laboratory instruments and an HL7 interface to the office EMR.

LabDAQ MiddleWare provides a user interface that is easy to use and allows users to define test panels, order tests, and approve, reject, or re-run test results.  In addition, users will also have the ability to enter non-instrumented test results. Antek has developed interfaces to more than 500 analyzers and numerous EMR/EHR systems to ensure timely and trouble-free implementation.  

Laboratory results play a major role in forming a differential diagnosis, supplying up to 70% of the information utilized by a physician in the diagnostic process.  LabDAQ MiddleWare allows the laboratory to send test results electronically, providing faster delivery of results, eliminating manual entry and transcription errors and enhancing overall efficiency thereby improving patient safety and care.
