Three new software configurations, the Select, SelectLink and Signature versions for this company's BacT/Alert 3D system, allow laboratories to choose a level of capability according to their current need, with the option to add on in the future.
     The Select configuration includes a complete basic menu for microbial testing, SelectLink interfaces to the LIS, and Signature is designed to meet the needs of a large laboratory.
     Each configuration allows a laboratory to do full microbial testing on blood, body fluid and mycobacteria on a single instrument. The modular design of the BacT/Alert 3D system allows flexible placement of instrument components and incubator drawers can be designated for right or left blood sample loading.
