This new Lipase assay will be provided in bulk configurations for various applications. The Lipase kit will be launched with applications available for most chemistry analyzers, and will also be available in specific packaging for the Poly-Chem Analyzer comprised of R1 (3 x 20 mL) and R2 (3 x 11 mL). The assay employs a colorimetric methodology. The technology used is one of the new generation methods that has shown improved sensitivity and specificity compared with total Amylase for diagnosis of acute pancreatitis.
     Although significant elevations are usually considered three times the upper limit of normal, some patients with mild elevations on admission may develop severe pancreatitis in hours to days.
     The Lipase kit yields approximately 378 tests on the Poly-Chem System. The assay has a measuring range of 4-700 U/l.
