Lipoprotein (a)
Immunoassay for variety of platforms
This new Lipoprotein (a) test is an in vitro immunoturbidimetric assay that utilizes an advanced 2 reagent system. The latex enhanced immunoassay is adaptable to a wide range of testing platforms. Lp (a) is an important risk factor that may contribute to coronary artery disease (CAD) independent of other lipid or non-lipid risk factors. Although similar to LDL, Lp (a) is not affected by dietary factors and Lp (a) determination is being recognized as a significant independent marker for assessment of the risk of coronary heart disease. The wide range of different Lp (a) levels seen in most individuals is primarily due to genetic factors. In addition to its diagnostic value for risk assessment of cardiovascular and cerebral vascular disease, Lp (a) is also effective for the management of diabetes and renal insufficiency. This Lp (a) immunoassay can be run directly on most chemistry analyzers with no sample pretreatment required. The kit contains ready to use liquid reagents. It offers high sensitivity and precision with little or no cross reaction with Apo B or plasminogen and minimal interference from hemoglobin, bilirubin, or chylomicrons. Testing for Lp (a) requires no dietary restrictions. Polymedco www.polymedco.com Keywords: cardiac marker
