K3 EDTA tubes have been added to this company’s line of virtually unbreakable plastic blood collection products.
     These plastic hematology tubes are inherently safer than glass tubes and provide equivalent results at competitive cost. The K3 EDTA tubes contain a readily soluble dry powder coating with a concentration of 1.8mg EDTA per 1ml of blood that binds calcium ions and blocks the coagulation cascade.
     Many laboratory analyzers are standardized on K3 EDTA so there is no need for recalibration before running tests. The K3 EDTA products are available as 13 x 75mm tubes in 2ml, 3ml and 4ml collection sizes. They are also available as 13 x 100mm tubes in 5ml and 6ml collection sizes and as a 16 x 100mm tube in a 9ml collection size for multiple test formats. Most tube sizes are available in both twist cap and pull cap designs.
     A 13 x 100mm pink cap K3 EDTA blood bank tube with a 6ml collection size can be used to perform crossmatch tests with whole blood. For low volume collection, K3 EDTA is part of the MiniCollect Capillary Collection system, available as 11 x 40mm tubes in 0.25ml, 0.5ml and 1ml collection sizes.
