HIV-1 viral load assay

For quantitation of HIV-1 viral RNA

The NucliSens HIV-1 QT quantitative viral load assay has received FDA pre-market approval. The assay uses proprietary Nucleic Acid Sequence-Based Amplification (NASBA) technology, and can closely monitor the effects of anti-retroviral therapy by measuring changes in HIV-1 RNA levels.
Three internal calibrators enable accurate quantitation of very low to very high concentrations of HIV-1 RNA without the need for reflex testing. Ultracentrifugation is not required, nor is thermocycling. Calculation of viral load is automated using an electrochemiluminescent endpoint. Results are available the same day.
Comparison with the current FDA-approved test showed excellent correlation, with an improved dynamic range across various viral load levels.
