The new AtheNA Multi-Lyte ANA Test System, based on the Luminex xMAP technology, is capable of simultaneously performing an ANA screen (using an ANA Hep-2 antigen) and reflex testing for 9 specific autoantibodies (dsDNA, SSA, SSB, Sm, RNP, Scl-70, Jo-1, Centromere B and Histone) in a single well. Patient specimens are analyzed for all of these ANA markers simultaneously in one rapid, homogeneous assay.
     The test system may be used as an aid in the diagnosis of patients with various autoimmune diseases and connective tissue disorders. The AtheNA Multi-Lyte ANA test provides improved clinical sensitivity and comparable clinical specificity to ELISA and IFA in a labor saving, automation-friendly format.
     The AtheNA Multi-Lyte System features the proprietary Intra-Well Calibration Technology, designed to adjust the calibration curve within every well to match the individual characteristics of the patient serum. Since calibration is well-specific, this technology virtually eliminates issues such as cross plate drift, inflexible incubation schemes and complications due to fluctuating ambient temperatures.
     Unlike ELISA, where there are multiple, time-critical washes, the homogenous AtheNA assay protocol features only two 30-minute incubations with windows of +/- 10 minutes and no washing. An additional advantage of the Intra-Well Calibration Technology is the direct verification of sample addition.
