Bone metabolism assay

For osteoporosis and Paget's disease management

productThe Access Ostase blood test is an automated, serum-based assay that quantifies bone metabolism by measuring the level of bone-specific alkaline phosphatase (BAP). The test provides feedback to the physician and patient about osteoporosis therapies such as estrogen, bisphosphonates, selective estrogen receptor modulators and calcitonin, which are designed to slow bone loss. The assay is also for clinical use for patients with Paget’s disease undergoing anti-resorptive therapy.
The test, which detects BAP changes within three to six months to reflect the bone metabolism process, is available on the Access and Access 2 immunoassay systems. Results are available in as little as 30 minutes.
