Probe detects translocation
The LSI PML/RARA Dual Color, Dual Fusion Translocation Probe incorporates this companys patented FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridization) technology to enable laboratory researchers to detect a reciprocal and balanced translocation event between chromosomes 15 and 17 in certain types of leukemia. Specifically, the probe detects a translocation with breakpoints in the PML (promyelocytic leukemia) gene on chromosome 15q22 and the RARA (retinoic acid receptor alpha) gene on chromosome 17q21.1. The resulting fusion genes on the derivative 15 and derivative 17 chromosomes encode two functional chimeric proteins: PML-RARA and RARA-PML. This probe complements two existing products, the LSI PML/RARA Dual Color Translocation Probe . Vysis www.vysis.com Keywords: Molecular diagnostics, ASR
