Extended range D-dimer
Reportable range from 1,000 ng/ml to 10,000 ng/ml
The Vidas D-dimer New assay is approved with an extended range, from 1,000 ng/ml to 10,000 ng/ml, enabling detection and monitoring of high levels of D-dimer that are clinically significant in conditions such as disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). D-dimer is known as an aid in the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). Vidas D-dimer New is supplied in easy-to-use, single test strips in the same format as existing Vidas technology. Laboratories can provide their EDs with rapid ELISA D-dimer results for patients suspected of DVT and PE, and also provide quantitative D-dimer results in the upper ranges for other clinical applications with no additional dilutions or testing. Vidas D-dimer has demonstrated clinical sensitivity and negative predictive values in excess of 99 percent. Emergence of D-dimer as a marker to aid in the diagnosis of DVT and PE is having a significant positive impact on time and cost management of patients presenting to emergency departments with nonspecific symptoms of venous thromboembolism, a potentially life threatening condition. bioMérieux www.CLPmag.com Keywords: point of care, rapid test, coagulation, D-dimer
