Rapid chest pain panel

CK-MB, myoglobin, troponin I and BNP in 15-minute meter format

The Triage Cardio ProfilER is a new rapid diagnostic intended to aid in the evaluation of chest pain patients by providing physicians with a fast and convenient means of assessing chest pain patients for a variety of conditions in order to potentially enable earlier therapeutic intervention or disease rule-out.
The Triage Cardio ProfilER provides rapid, simultaneous, quantitative measurement of four disease markers, creatinine kinase (CK-MB), myoglobin, all forms of troponin I, and b-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) within 15 minutes.
Cardio ProfilER is based on the portable Triage MeterPlus testing platform and can be performed at the point-of-care or in a laboratory by placing a few drops of whole blood onto a small diagnostic chip, which is subsequently inserted into the Triage MeterPlus. The meter scans the chip and utilizes fluorescence technology to measure the level of a targeted marker in a patient’s sample.
CK-MB, myoglobin and troponin I are widely accepted as indicators of a heart attack. Recent studies have demonstrated that even modest increases in levels of troponin I over and above the normal range can be indicative of risk of adverse events. The Triage Cardio ProfilER features a highly sensitive troponin I assay capable of measuring low concentrations of the marker. BNP is a recognized marker of congestive heart failure. Recent publications have demonstrated its usefulness as a tool for risk stratifying patients with acute coronary syndromes, a group of severe clinical symptoms suggesting that the coronary arteries are not delivering enough blood to the heart.
The Triage Cardio ProfilER complements this company's existing cardiovascular products, the Triage Cardiac Panel and the Triage BNP Test. This single diagnostic can help ED physicians evaluate chest pain patients exhibiting symptoms associated with acute coronary syndromes (which includes heart attack, unstable angina and other permutations of heart disease) and congestive heart failure.
