Human sex hormone-binding globulin ELISA

For determination of human serum SHBG

productThis company has announced its Human Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin (SHBG) ELISA. This two-site ELISA is specific for SHBG, showing negligible cross-reactivity with other human serum proteins. A pure recombinant DNA-derived human SHBG preparation is used for the assay standards and controls. This convenient ELISA generates reliable results within 3 hours, and may be fully automated on open-platform microplate systems.
SHBG is a serum glycoprotein which binds several sex steroids with relatively high specificity and low capacity, including testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (combined, 95% bound to SHBG) and, to a much lesser extent, estradiol. Abnormal serum SHBG levels have been reported in a number of conditions, including obesity and female hyperandrogenism (including polycystic ovary disease).
