Partial Thromboplastin Reagent
For biocompatibility coagulation studies
This nonactivated partial thromboplastin reagent is available for performing a hemocompatibility screening test of the intrinsic coagulation system. UPTT reagent is intended to meet the requirements of ISO 10993, Part 4, for a partial thromboplastin reagent. UPTT is a lyophilized preparation of rabbit-brain cephalin formulated to provide a consistent concentration of 0.1% of rabbit-brain phospholipids. The UPTT reagent may be used in performing the nonactivated partial thromboplastin time test by manual methods or in most semiautomated or automated coagulation analyzers. Test results indicate the time required for recalcified citrated plasma to clot. Shortening of the partial thromboplastin time following contact with a material under standardized conditions expresses the activation of the contact phase of blood coagulation. UPTT is packaged at 15 x 10 mL and 20 x 4 mL, and is reconstituted with purified water. Prior to reconstitution, UPTT should be stored at 2° to 8°C. Once reconstituted, UPTT is stable for 7 days when stored at 2° to 8°C. Bio/Data Corporation www.CLPmag.com
