A new SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) Oligodetect® assay has been developed to quickly and accurately detect nucleic acids specific to SARS. It utilizes amplified SARS nucleic acids for detecting the virus in an ELISA-based colorimetric procedure using a microplate reader. Oligodetect is a pretested kit that takes less than 90 minutes to run. Including sample extraction and amplification of the sample, the process typically takes less than 3 hours.
