E-Beam Process

Combines sterilization with performance-enhancing characteristics

pn01.jpg (11076 bytes)A one-step electron beam process is designed to sterilize and improve the performance of products. The finished and packaged medical device is sterilized and treated without the introduction of chemicals or additives. The degree of treatment is controlled by the dose level required to sterilize the product or to deliver the desired enhanced performance.
A permanent cross-linking of the plastic material occurs during the sterilization process, improving tensile and impact strength, thermal stability, and resistance to solvents, chemicals, and abrasion.
The e-beam cross-linking process enables medical device designers of molded parts, tubing, woven and nonwoven materials, and other biomedical products to substitute less-costly materials or offer smaller-size products that exhibit higher performance characteristics.
