TERG-A-ZYME, an enzyme-active powdered aqueous detergent, removes stubborn soils from the stainless, glass, and plastic vessels and machine parts used in fermentors, as well as foulants from filtration systems. The process used to clean laboratory equipment is designed to be effective whether manual, soak, or circulate-in-place procedures are used. For best results, a dilution of 0.5% to 1% cleaner to water is employed. For caked-on, proteinacious soils, a presoak in hot (120° to 130° F) water can help eliminate heavy debris prior to cleaning. Articles can then be cleaned with a wash of TERG-A-ZYME solution with water for about 10 minutes, followed by rinsing with deionized water.
For filtration systems, the solution is circulated slowly and then purged by pumping in one full-system capacity of water, circulating it, and then rinsing by draining at least two times the systems water capacity with deionized water. Some filtration units may require additional rinsing.
