Live Cell Cutting Module Enables microdissection of live cells in culture
This Live Cell Cutting (LCC) module extends the capabilities of the Leica AS LMD laser microdissection system to microdissect live cells in culture. With the LCC module, users can isolate individual or small groups of cultured cells for direct molecular analysis or reculturing. This helps researchers isolate cell clones and separate different cell types by morphology or fluorescence. The process begins with cells growing on special foil-bottom dishes. The cells are then microdissected with a laser beam and dropped directly into a well from an eight-well strip. The 8-well strip fits onto a 96-well plate rack that can be returned to the incubator for reculturing. The AS LMD features a noncontact microdissection method that ensures the least amount of impact on live cells during dissection and transferring, and increases the survival of the isolated cells. With the introduction of the LCC module, the AS LMD becomes a more versatile system that can microdissect small tissues and live cells, whether they are thick or thin, large or small.
