Two-Reagent Liquid System

Based on accelerator selective detergent methodology

HDL Ultra is a third-generation homogeneous HDL method based on a principle known as the accelerator selective detergent methodology. HDL Ultra is a stable two-reagent liquid system. In the first reagent, non-HDL free cholesterol is broken down by cholesterol oxidase in an accelerated enzyme reaction. In the second reagent, a detergent specifically solubilized HDL allows for the reaction of HDL and cholesterol esterase (CE), yield a color-developing product for the quantitative determination of HDL cholesterol.
HDL Ultra also offers reduced interference from triglycerides. The ready-to-use reagent is easy to set up on most clinical chemistry analyzers, and in most cases does not require a change in the current application. HDL Ultra is available in several kit sizes, ranging from 200 to 2,500 tests per kit.
