The SPOT version 4.0 software supports all previously supported cameras, and provides drivers for RTKE and Insight FireWire models. The system includes macro routines, which are automated subroutines that can be written, saved, and implemented— saving the user time and effort. A floating tool bar keeps commonly used macros and software functions nearby while auto logging of image-capture settings lets the user recall how images were taken.
     New features offered with the 4.0 software include bias frame and thermal frame subtract. Bias frame subtracts noise that is inherent in the CCD, while thermal frame subtracts noise that builds with exposure time. Other features include annotation, database export, fast/slow conversion, on-the-fly hardware conversion, and spot metering. SPOT software is included with all RT, Insight, and Enhanced model cameras and can also be downloaded from the company’s Web site.
