Spinal Fluid and Body Fluid Control

Assayed for five-part white blood cell differential counts

Cell-Chex is a spinal fluid and body fluid control with distinct white blood cell populations. The product is assayed for five-part white blood cell differential counts obtained using Cytospin smears. Cell-Chex monitors total cell counts performed manually using a hemocytometer and validates quantitation of red and white blood cells in patient cerebrospinal fluid and other body fluid samples, including pleural, pericardial, peritoneal, and synovial fluids. Mononuclear and polymorphonuclear values are also provided on the assay.
Two levels of Cell-Chex control provide assay ranges for red blood cells, white blood cells, and WBC differential. Level 1 offers a red blood cell and white blood cell count at 10 µL. Level 2 offers a red blood cell and white blood cell count at 100 µL. The closed-vial stability of Cell-Chex is 6 months. Open-vial stability is 30 days when refrigerated.
STATS®, a free interlaboratory quality control program, is offered to all standing order customers. It produces relevant peer group–comparison reports and graphs with a quick turnaround time. The reports include customer data, peer group averages, and computer-generated Levy-Jennings graphs.
