Collagen Disease Marker

A sensitive assay for detecting anti-Jo-1 antibodies

d04a.JPG (12101 bytes)The Mesacup-2 Jo-1 assay is used for the assessment of anti-Jo-1 antibody, which is found in the sera of patients with polymyositis (PM) and dermatomyositis (DM). The antibody is found in 20% to 30% of patients with PM/DM, in 30% to 40% of patients with PM, and in more than 60% of patients with PM combined with interstitial lung disease. This antibody is rarely found in the other collagen diseases. Therefore, the Mesacup-2 Jo-1 test is regarded as a unique marker for PM/DM. This ELISA procedure, with ready-to-use reagents, offers semiquantitative values with minimal turnaround time.
