The Center for Phlebotomy Education Inc has released its three-tape video series, Applied Phlebotomy. The series focuses on the current NCCLS standards, including the recently revised venipuncture standard.
     The first tape, Basic Venipuncture, teaches venipuncture techniques using a tube holder, syringe, and winged collection set. Preventing Preanalytical Errors discusses the most common errors in specimen collection that affect test results. Avoiding Phlebotomy-Related Lawsuits covers the most common errors that blood-collection personnel commit and injuries patients suffer that lead to litigation.
      The video series features appearances by experts in the field, who provide their insights. Viewers of the Applied Phlebotomy video series are eligible for PACE continuing education credit.
