The Leica AS LMD (application system laser microdissection) method combines automated upright microscope architecture, 3-D optical control of the dissecting laser beam, and non-contact sample collection by gravity. The system’s laser beam steering and control technology are easy to use, and its imaging capabilities enable cells of interest to be readily identified. Simple drawing tools are used to select the region for dissection. Laser-microdissected cancer cells or suspect tissue of any shape or size are simply cut and dropped via gravity directly into tubes for subsequent molecular analysis.
     The Leica AS LMD laser microdissection system enables the precise, direct, and contamination-free isolation of normal, precancerous, malignant, and metastatic cells within a whole tissue biopsy to be routinely performed.
