The Perfect-FOCUS™ kit from Genotech provides a method for concentrating, cleaning, and preparing protein solution for loading on 1EF and 2D gels. Simply treat 1–100 µL of protein solution with UPPA, which results in the quantitative precipitation of the entire protein in any solution. Protein precipitation is not affected by the presence of detergents, chiaotropics, or other common laboratory agents. The protein precipitate is collected by centrifugation and washed to remove interfering agents. The user suspends the protein precipitate in IEF/2D sample loading buffer and loads on the gel for electrophoresis.
