The StainerShield bar code identification system is designed for prestainer labeling of tissue and specimen slides. The labels are printed on demand using a standard direct thermal printer. They are then applied to slides as specimens are produced at the cutting station, allowing technicians to assign a unique bar code identifier to the specimen at the start of the labs process. The label will survive the staining process without degrading or separating from the slide. Bar codes remain scannable, and text remains readable.
The StainerShield labels help eliminate the need to redraw samples or repeat tests due to misidentified specimens. Labels are printed as needed in one simple step using a standard direct thermal printer that does not require special ink ribbons.
