The Visi-Spot rapid visual test from NERL Diagnostics tests for PYRase (pyroglutamyl) and GLCase (Beta-D-glucosidase), which distinguishes enterococci from other streptococci species. Visi-Spot is a PYR test that also includes a confirmatory test normally done by bile esculin. The test saves on overnight incubation and identifies enterococci or group Strep A in 20 minutes. It is used for routine testing of throat, urine, and wound specimens. Visi-Spot comes in a 50-test kit with cards, a buffer, a color reagent, controls, and applicator tips.
