Serum-free Kappa and serum-free Lambda light chain assays from The Binding Site Inc are fully quantitative and automated on a wide range of analyzers. They are up to 500 times more sensitive than SPE, and enable diagnosis and monitoring of patients who are negative by SPE/IFE. The assays can replace laborious urine tests for detection of Bence Jones Protein, and provide an earlier marker of disease remission. The assays also serve as a more rapid assessment of therapeutic response, a more sensitive marker of residual disease, and an independent prognostic factor for MGUS progression.
