The MIRAX SCAN, a fully automated system platform for digital histology, facilitates the process of assessing pathological specimens in clinical laboratories. The system offers increased quality and efficiency in diagnostics while combining Carl Zeiss optics and technology with IBM’s digital archiving capabilities.
     The system can process 300 slides in one batch without user intervention. Digitization takes 5–20 minutes, depending on the size of the section. The high-resolution monitor provides the same field of view as the microscope but offers better ergonomic convenience than viewing through an eyepiece. The software permits fast screening of specimens on the monitor, marking of regions, compilation of reports, and tele-consultation via the Internet.
