Maine Molecular Quality Controls Inc has introduced the INTROL™ line of controls for molecular diagnostic testing of cystic fibrosis. The CF Panel I Control contains 42 mutations and polymorphisms, including those required by the ACMG/ACOG recommended test panel. The new INTROL products make rare genotypes available and contain multiple mutations in single samples. The control documentation is streamlined, and technologist time is reduced by having lot numbers to track and large volumes of single lots available. Additionally, INTROL is packaged to mimic genotypes. Each bottle contains 2 synthetic “alleles” per bottle, which provides the lab with experience in recognizing rare genotypes. The genotype format also gives the lab practice in the interpretation of method interferences that occur in many cystic fibrosis assays when mutations and/or polymorphisms are close together on a gene.
