Fecal Occult Blood Test

Used to detect colorectal cancer

Hemoccult®, Beckman Coulter’s next-generation fecal occult blood test (FOBT), uses an immunochemical, antibody-antigen reaction to detect human hemoglobin in stool samples. Hemoccult ICT is the latest addition to Beckman Coulter’s Hemoccult product family. The immunochemical fecal occult blood test employs antibodies to detect the globin portion of human hemoglobin in the lower-gastrointestinal (GI) system with a higher rate of specificity than guaiac-based FOBTs. Hemoccult ICT is highly effective in the detection of cancer, has a high specificity for lower-GI bleeding, requires no restrictions on diet or on certain drugs, and claims increased patient compliance.
