Cepheid’s GeneXpert® BCR-ABL assay delivers an automated, accurate, and cost-efficient solution for both low- and high-throughput hematopathology-research labs. Cepheid’s BCR-ABL product provides the advantages and sensitivity of quantitative nested real-time PCR in a truly closed system that provides a rapid, standardized research test, with results in about 2 hours. The GeneXpert system combines sample preparation with real-time PCR amplification and detection functions for fully integrated and automated nucleic acid analysis. This system purifies, concentrates, detects, and identifies targeted nucleic acid sequences, and completely automates sample preparation. It performs all the complex steps of DNA extraction in advanced “microfluidic” cartridges. The GeneXpert cartridges are designed to handle a variety of sample volumes, enabling them to contain higher concentrations of starting target materials. Concentration and purification of the target further increases the sensitivity of the resulting test. With its “sample in, answer out” simplicity, the GeneXpert System delivers real-time genetic analysis wherever and whenever it is needed.
