Genotechs Non-Interfering Protein Assay allows the assaying of protein without the worry of interference from common laboratory agents present in protein solutions or protein-to-protein variations. The Non-Interfering Protein Assay can be used when no other protein assay will work. The Non-Interfering Protein Assay has been tested to work in the presence of common laboratory agents, such as reducing agents (2ME, DTT), chelating agents (EDTA), detergents (nonionic, anionic, cationic, and zwitterionic), amines (Tris), sugars, urea, ammonium sulfate, guandinine hydrochloride, guanidine thiocynate, drugs, antiobiotics, cobalt, and numerous other agents. The Non-Interfering Protein Assay is not affected even if the protein is in strong extraction buffers. The Non-Interfering Protein Assay is based on the assay of unbound copper following the specific binding of copper ions to the peptide backbone of protein. This allows the assay to overcome the protein-to-protein variation. This assay can also be performed using as little as 1 µg of protein in a test tube or microtiter plate.
