Complete digestion of protein is necessary for mass-spectrometry analysis, and residual silver ions used in silver staining kits inhibit trypsin in-gel digestion of protein. SilverOUT™ destains and removes silver ions from protein gels and allows complete digestion of protein in gel bands. Users incubate the gel in SilverOUT™ for a few minutes and wash. Removal of silver ions ensures efficient trypsin digestion of protein into free peptides for mass-spectrometry analysis.
