Software3D CAD SoftwareCompatible with LPX-600 laser scanner Able to work with raw scanned data, Lake Forest, Calif–based SolidWorks 2007 Office Premium offers 3D CAD users compatibility with Roland’s LPX-600 3D laser scanner. With the touch of a button, users can now use the LPX-600 to capture detailed models with watertight surfaces. The LPX-600 scans objects up to 16 inches tall and 10 inches wide. The desktop device then automatically generates detailed models with a watertight surface and resolutions up to 0.008 inch. It captures complex data for consumer products, packaging, jewelry, and a host of biomedical applications. Bundled LPX EZ Studio reverse engineering software automatically fills holes, scans, aligns, and merges planes of 3D models that can be used directly in SolidWorks 2007 Office Premium. The software supports a wide range of data-output formats, including STL, PIX, and 3DM. STL files are used by the industry’s most popular rapid prototyping systems, including those manufactured by Roland, 3D Systems, Stratasys, Z-Corp, and Solidscape.
