Brother International Corp, Bridgewater, NJ, a manufacturer of professional labeling systems, has introduced an efficient and cost-effective slide label-printing solution. Health care professionals can now print highly legible, customized 23-mm laboratory slide labels, and a wide variety of other label sizes, accurately and efficiently in seconds from the Brother QL-550 or Brother QL-650TD label printers. Labels print directly from Brother labeling software, including Pathlogix Anatomic Pathology software, MS Word files, and more. The label printers' features include low operating cost and easy-peel, easy-load label rolls. The Brother QL-650TD also enables stand-alone printing and time and date labels. Brother International Corp BeadXpress SystemLarge multiplexing range
Illumina Inc, San Diego, has launched the BeadXpress System, based on its proprietary VeraCode digital microbead technology. Utilizing uniquely inscribed digital microbeads, the technology provides high-quality data, broad multiplexing capability, and assay flexibility. The two-color laser detection capability of the BeadXpress System is ideally suited for low- to mid-multiplex experiments. Using this system, researchers can assay tens to hundreds of analytes in a single sample at one time. Key application areas include biomarker research and validation, pharmaceutical development, industrial testing, agriculture, clinical research, and the development of molecular diagnostic assays. BeadXpress systems and associated reagent kits are currently shipping. The technology enables solution-based assays with the multiplexing power of microarrays. Comprising cylindrical glass particles, the microbeads are inscribed with holographic elements that, when excited with a laser beam, diffract the beam to produce a unique code image. Illumina Inc Photodetector AmplifierUsed for fluorescence and spectroscopy
Opto Diode Corp, Newbury Park, Calif, has launched a new ODA-5W-100M Photodetector Amplifier Combination with 100Mohm gain. The detector's visible wavelength responsivity at 660 nm is 40V/ĚW. The new combination detector-preamp's frequency response is 1 kHz with low dark offset at +/- 1mV with dark offset noise at 5mV RMS. The active area is .100 inch in diameter, and the TO-5 package makes the device easy to integrate and suitable for a variety of applications such as fluorescence and spectroscopy. It is also good for low-light-level tasks where electrical noise levels can affect the photodiode signal if the detector and amplifier are separate components on a PCB. Opto Diode Corp Bond AntibodiesReady to Use
Vision BioSystems announces the pending introduction of 16 new Bond ready-to-use antibodies. These new clones will increase to 34 the number of IVD ready-to-use antibodies released for the fully automated Bond immunohistochemistry system. The upcoming release will include unique Novocastra™ clones such as Calretinin (clone CAL6), CD11c (clone 5D11), and the new Cytokeratin 7 (clone RN7). These products join popular existing products such as Cytokeratin 20 (clone PW31), S-100 (polyclonal), p53 (clone DO-7), and Ki67 (clone MM1) that are already in laboratories. As with the existing products, the new antibodies will use Novocastra clones specially optimized and packaged for Bond. All Bond antibodies are suitable for IVD use on Bond-max instruments with Bond Polymer Refine Detection. The Bond format creates a "click-and-go" system that eliminates reagent dilution, titration, and mixing. Operators simply load the container onto Bond and can be confident that they have the optimal antibody preparation and the pretreatment and staining protocols preselected. Vision BioSystems BioPlex EBV KitsFor the BioPlex 2200
Bio-Rad Laboratories has launched its EBV IgG and EBV IgM kits for the BioPlex™ 2200. The BioPlex EBV IgG kit contains assays for VCA, NA-1, and EA-D; and the EBV IgM kit contain assays for VCA and Heterophile antibody. Both products are in a multiplex format, which allows labs to order any combination of tests on a single sample for maximum flexibility, either from a single kit or both kits. The total EBV test throughput is in excess of 190 results per hour, making it the highest-throughput EBV test system on the market. The Heterophile antibody assay in the BioPlex EBV IGM kit represents the first time this test has been made available on a fully automated, random-access system. All assays in the two kits have between-day and between-run reproducibility of < 6% CV and show excellent correlation with commercially available assays based on serological status.
