Bio-Plex Manager 5.0

Data-management software

Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc, Hercules, Calif, introduces Bio-Plex Manager 5.0, its latest Bio-Plex suspension array system data-management software. The multiplex analysis system permits simultaneous analysis of up to 100 different biomolecules, such as proteins, peptides, or nucleic acids, in a single microplate well. It integrates instrumentation, assay kits, software, calibration, and validation tools into a complete system. Four key improvements over the prior version are a new graphing capability to compare sample data and results among samples and across analytes, allowing users to understand the data using a customizable graph; an automated maintenance feature that allows researchers to set up and automatically run (unattended) "pre" or "post" run custom maintenance and shutdown operations; data normalization, which uses internal controls such as housekeeping genes or external/exogenous controls, allowing users to establish a comparison parameter and increase their confidence in their results; and a new multiple analyte table layout for viewing sample data across analytes within a single view, which allows users to scroll through the entire results data set and hide columns as needed.
